Hur ska undervisningen bedrivas till h\u00f6sten? En fr\u00e5ga som vi st\u00e4ller oss just nu. Karolinska Institutet kommer snart ut med riktlinjer och en gissning \u00e4r att vi f\u00e5r planera f\u00f6r en successiv \u00e5terg\u00e5ng till campus med fortsatt digitala inslag i undervisningen. Med drygt ett \u00e5r av erfarenheter av undervisning on-line s\u00e5 \u00e4r det nu tillf\u00e4lle att t\u00e4nka hur vi \u201dplockar russinen ur kakan\u201d och tar med det b\u00e4sta in i det nya normala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Men vi \u00e4r inte riktigt d\u00e4r \u00e4nnu. Vi \u00e4r h\u00e4r mitt i v\u00e5rterminen och med m\u00e5nga moment som ska avslutas innan ett v\u00e4lbeh\u00f6vligt sommaruppeh\u00e5ll stundar. Vi \u00e4r ocks\u00e5 h\u00e4r mitt i tredje v\u00e5gen av corona-pandemin med fortsatt h\u00f6g smittspridning och h\u00f6gt tryck p\u00e5 v\u00e5rden. Samtidigt \u00e4r vaccinationerna i full g\u00e5ng och i skrivande stund har ca 20 % av Sveriges befolkning f\u00e5tt sin f\u00f6rsta vaccindos. Det inger hopp och vi kan se ljuset i tunneln. NVS har hanterat pandemin mycket bra och v\u00e5r verksamhet \u00e4r i full g\u00e5ng. Jag vet att det \u00e4r segt, men h\u00e5ll i och h\u00e5ll ut s\u00e5 fixar vi det h\u00e4r!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jag t\u00e4nker mycket p\u00e5 er l\u00e4rare och studenter och alla andra som p\u00e5 olika s\u00e4tt arbetar med utbildning vid NVS. Det \u00e4r en mycket speciell situation b\u00e5de att undervisa och att studera i. Det kan bli ensamt n\u00e4r vi inte ses som vanligt och situationer med missf\u00f6rst\u00e5nd kan uppst\u00e5 ibland. Sj\u00e4lva l\u00e4randet p\u00e5verkas ocks\u00e5 n\u00e4r man inte ses och kan fr\u00e5ga och diskutera tillsammans p\u00e5 vanligt s\u00e4tt. Samtidigt passar vissa undervisningsmoment alldeles utm\u00e4rkt digitalt och man kan uppleva mer direkta samtal t ex i en handledningssituation eller ett grupparbete. Som sagt vi f\u00e5r ta med oss det b\u00e4sta fr\u00e5n denna tid. \u00c4ven om ni k\u00e4nner er slitna nu, s\u00e5 vet jag att det samtidigt finns en stolthet. En stolthet \u00f6ver att ha st\u00e4llt om undervisningen fr\u00e5n campus till digitalt och nu ha tagit det teknikspr\u00e5ng som vi l\u00e4nge pratat om. En stolthet \u00f6ver att studenterna h\u00e4nger i, pluggar, tentar och \u00e4r engagerade i sin utbildning. En f\u00f6rdel med att vara KI-student i pandemin \u00e4r att alla har olika praktiska moment som med f\u00e5 undantag fortsatt genomf\u00f6rs i mindre grupper p\u00e5 campus, KTC eller i klinik. H\u00e4r sker m\u00f6ten IRL som ger ny energi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tired-proud-summer vacation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

How will the teaching be conducted in the autumn? A question we are asking ourselves right now. Karolinska Institutet will soon come out with guidelines and a guess is that we will have to plan for a gradual return to campus with continued digital elements in the teaching. With just over a year of experience in teaching online, it is now time to think about how we “pick the raisins out of the cake” and bring the best into the new normal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, we are not there yet. We are here in the middle of the spring semester and with many steps to be completed before a much-needed summer break arrives. We are also here in the middle of the third wave of the corona pandemic with continued high spread of infection and high pressure on healthcare. At the same time, vaccinations are in full swing and at the time of writing, about 20% of Sweden’s population has received their first vaccine dose. It gives hope and we can see the light in the tunnel. NVS has handled the pandemic very well and our research and teaching are running at full speed. I know it is tough but hold on and we will fix this!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I think a lot about you teachers and students and everyone else who works with education at NVS in different ways. It is a very special situation both to teach and to study in. It can be lonely when we do not see each other as usual and situations with misunderstandings can sometimes arise. The learning itself is also affected when you do not meet and can ask and discuss together in the usual way. At the same time, certain teaching elements are perfectly suited digitally, and you can experience more direct conversations, for example in a supervision situation or a group work. As I said, we get to bring the best from this time. Even if you feel worn out now, I know that at the same time there is pride. A pride in having changed the teaching from campus to digital and now have taken the technological leap that we have talked about for a long time. A pride that the students hang in, study, take exams and are engaged in their education. An advantage of being a KI student in the pandemic is that everyone has different practical elements that, with a few exceptions, continue to be carried out in small groups on campus, KTC or in the clinic. IRL meetings take place here, which provide new energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
