This Tuesday I had the privilege of participating in a symposium on Global Health organized by our Development Office. The presenters, Anna Mia Ekstr\u00f6m, Johan von Schreeb and Helena Nordenstedt presented touching examples of their contributions to improve health for individuals around the globe. You are all fantastic ambassadors for KI! How do we decrease spread of HIV between mother and child? How do we act optimally in crisis? How can we prevent or restrict a new Ebola Outbreak? These are just a few examples of how KI employees contribute to research and education that really make a difference for people.<\/p>\n
Last week we were reached by the good news that nine KI specialist nursing study programmes were evaluated as of good quality. This means that all KI study programmes are evaluated as of good or very good quality. Thanks to everyone involved in securing that KI delivers high quality education, to ensure students good training in a broad repertoire of particularly health care professions which are in high demand by the surrounding society and which really makes a difference for the health and well-being of individuals.<\/p>\n
So almost exactly one month after I was entrusted with the leadership of KI, I can safely conclude that KI is making and will continue to make a difference.<\/p>\n
We have now decided on the special responsibilities of the acting pro-vice-chancellor Henrik Gr\u00f6nberg. He will take responsibility for the project with the working name \u201cFenix\u201d. The goal is to restore KI confidence and to develop KI further in the direction of a nationally and internationally highly respected medical university that rests on a solid platform of high quality and ethical approach. The project includes activities to identify and act on potential risk environments and behaviors as well as activities to secure our core values considering that KI activities fall within an area where fundamental values are of particular importance. In line with this, Henrik will also be responsible for formulating the future responsibilities of the KI ethics council where I expect that an ethics council will play a central role at KI and be a very important dialogue partner, not only for the KI management but for the university at large. Within the KI management Henrik will also take responsibility for SciLifeLab and the development of the KI Southern Campus.<\/p>\n
